Asclera Vein Treatment

Banish unsightly veins for good

Make legs more youthful and vibrant with Asclera, the gold standard in sclerotherapy that effectively treats spider veins and reticular veins.

Quick injections (less than 1 hour per session) are all it takes to banish these eyesores with a powerful, FDA-approved medication.

Why Asclera?

Unmatched quality

Unlike some other injections for spider veins, Asclera is the only FDA-approved liquid polidocanol solution, an ingredient found to offer better safety and results than compounded formulas from other brands.

Non-invasive & quick

Asclera is delivered by a minimally uncomfortable injection, and a session usually lasts just 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the patient. The procedure does not require anesthesia, though you may request a local numbing agent beforehand.

Permanent results

Once a spider vein or a reticular vein has been effectively treated with Asclera, it doesn’t come back. You may need multiple sessions depending on the size and location of the treatment area.

Patient Satisfaction

Results from Asclera are both effective and permanent: 88% of patients in a clinical study reported they were satisfied or very satisfied with their treatment outcomes after 26 weeks.

More radiant, youthful complexion on legs & ankles

The powerful medication in Asclera effectively shuts down vein endings, causing their appearance to fade out completely over time.

What Is Asclera?

Asclera is a prescription medication that is administered via injection to treat spider and reticular veins in the lower extremities, i.e., the legs and ankles. Spider veins (telangiectasias) are small, thin, blue and red varicose veins with a diameter of less than 1mm. Known to branch out into spider-like patterns, they also present as a thin red line. Reticular veins are a bit larger, at 1 to 3mm in diameter, and are often the result of high blood pressure or weakened valves in the vein. As far as what causes spider veins and reticular veins, both have the same origins, including:
  • Age
  • Genetics
  • Gender (women are more susceptible)
  • Pregnancy
  • Weight gain
  • Obesity
  • Certain vascular conditions
  • Hormonal changes

How Asclera Works

Asclera is a prescription medication classified as a sclerosing agent, meaning that when it is injected into the vein, it causes it to close by damaging the inner lining of the blood vessels.

This prevents any more blood from flowing through the vein, and consequently, eradicates symptoms like:

  • Discomfort
  • Swelling
  • Bulging
  • Discoloration

Asclera effectively seals spider and reticular veins in the legs shut. With no more blood passing through, these veins then become reabsorbed naturally by the body and disappear entirely over time.

What to Expect with Asclera Treatment

Pre-Treatment

Before getting Asclera injections, you’ll need to be cleared at a consultation with a licensed medical professional trained in cutting-edge sclerotherapy, also known as vein treatment. They will develop a customized treatment plan, map out a timeline, and address your concerns. You’ll also need to follow pre-treatment guidelines closely, such as pausing medications like aspirin for a few days and avoiding sun exposure and rigorous exercise.

The day of your appointment, don’t put any lotion on your legs and wear comfortable clothing for after the procedure.

The Procedure

An individual session will usually take between 15 and 45 minutes, with 1 to 3 injections administered per vein being treated.

Depending on the number of veins treated and their location, you may require multiple sessions spaced 1 to 2 weeks apart for best results.

Most patients report mild discomfort when receiving Asclera injections, and a local anesthetic may be administered first if you’re concerned about managing pain.

After Treatment

After Asclera treatment, patients are required to wear compression stockings to help maintain blood flow in the area and minimize swelling and discomfort. Wearing compression hose is a non-negotiable part of post-treatment care, as they reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis and expedite healing.

For spider veins, compression stockings must be worn for 2-3 days following treatment; reticular veins require 5-7 days of wear post-treatment. For both types, continuous wear for 2 days post-treatment is recommended.

Depending on the severity of the veins treated, your provider may recommend wearing compression stockings even longer, up to three weeks.

Immediately after your session, you’ll be told to walk for about 20 minutes, and daily 20-minute walks are recommended for the next few days. You’ll also be expected to avoid the following for 2 to 3 days after Asclera:

  • Sun exposure to the legs
  • Long flights
  • Rigorous exercise
  • Hot tubs and saunas

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How does Asclera work?

It irritates the lining of the targeted vein, causing it to collapse. The body then naturally absorbs the closed vein over time, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins.

Most patients report only mild stinging or burning during injection, which subsides quickly.

Many see improvement after 1–3 sessions, though this depends on vein size, number, and location.

Fading often begins within 3–6 weeks, with full improvement visible in a few months.

Once treated, the targeted vein is gone for good. However, new veins can form, so maintenance treatments may be needed over the years.

You can return to most normal activities immediately, but your provider may recommend avoiding high-impact exercise for a few days and wearing compression stockings for a short period.

Temporary redness, mild bruising, or swelling may occur at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within a few days to weeks.

No. It is FDA-approved for use on veins in the legs only and should not be used on facial or pelvic veins.

Most healthy adults with spider or small varicose veins in the legs are candidates. Asclera may not be suitable for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of blood clots.

Avoid shaving or applying lotion to your legs on the day of treatment. Wear loose-fitting clothing and bring your compression stockings if advised.

Mild tenderness or darkening of the vein can occur as it heals. Your provider will give you instructions on walking, compression, and follow-up care.

In most cases, Asclera is considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by insurance.
